Laura Mulveys Theory in horror.

Although i have decided to do a psychological horror, i have briefly looked at slasher movies. I have found that you can relate laura mulveys theory to this genre in particular, covers often feature women shown in a provocative way or shown in a weak submissive way. Whereas the men are shown in a strong, powerful perspective.

  1. That's a good start, Holly, but you need to go in to more depth regarding Mulvey.

What would she have to say about how women are shown in slasher films? Look at her 'fetishistic' ideas - that women are there for the fantasy of men. In those images you posted, look at how women are shown... Tied up, low-cut black numbers on, nightdresses (Slumber Party films et al).

How does this relate to the male gaze and male fantasy theories?

Deconstruct the images in a little more detail.
